Grants for Homeless Americans - And Those at Risk

___________________________________________________________________________________
Announced yesterday, stimulus money for Florida has been given out in the form of grants for homeless Americans and those at risk of becoming homeless. This includes many single parent families, who are finding it harder and harder to be able to afford rent due to the slow economy and many people losing their jobs. In order to qualify for this grant, one has to make less than 50% of the area's median income.

The grants for homeless cannot be used for home mortgage payment, as there are is already government help for that. This is money directed towards those who need help with the rent, utilities, and deposits and for families who are behind on their rent or are homeless. The the current tally on homeless in Florida is quoted as being $58,000, but these numbers do not take in account those who have moved in with family members or friends.

This is money that can help those who need it get back on their feet in order to change their life around. Of course, if you do receive this money, make the most of it. Take a good hard look at where you are and where you would like to be and how you can get from point A to point B. If you do not put a plan in action, you will never be able to get out of the situation you are in and be able to live a better life.

And Florida is not the only state receiving grants for homeless stimulus money. If you are in dire straights and need help, contact your local government to see about what is available to you.
