Scholarships for Teaching Students at Governors State University

Scholarships for Teaching Students is being offered at Governors State University called the TQE-R scholarship (Teacher Quality Enhancement Recruitment Scholarship) in the amount of $500 to $3000 for qualified applicants or currently enrolled students in the secondary education programs in biology, chemistry, English, mathematics at GSU.

In order to receive Scholarships for Teaching Students, after completion of the program the scholarship recipients are required to teach in a high need school for a period of time equal to the length of the scholarship or reimburse the U.S. Department of Education for all scholarship monies received.

To qualify for this scholarship you must be admitted to a GSU Secondary Education Program, with a GPA of 3.0 or higher for all undergraduate coursework in the degree program, as on official transcripts. You must also have two letters of recommendation from college teachers, counselors or deans that will show the student's potential to teach in a high need school. Last but not least, you must include an essay of not more than 300 words explaining your s interest in teaching in a high need school (to be submitted electronically here).

Deadlines for this Scholarships for Teaching Students at GSU is December 1, 2009, for winter of 2009 and April 1, 2010, for the spring/summer of 2010.
