I came across an interesting scholarship from SolvayCARES that is awarded to students who suffer from cystic fibrosis. It is called the Thriving Student Scholarship and is awarded in the amount of $2500, however, this past year the winner won $17,000 to coincide with the 17th year anniversary of this scholarship award.
And, if you or someone you know is afflicted with cystic fibrosis and is planning on attending school this coming fall, there is also the Sacks for CF scholarship. Applications must be received by January 15, 2009, and winner will be announced on Superbowl Sunday.
This scholarship is sponsored by Solvay Pharmaceuticals, Inc, who will donate $1000 for every sack recorded during NFL Monday Night Football games to the Boomer Esiason Foundation Scholarship Program. Through the BEF/SolvayCARES partnership, "Sacks for CF" funds will be awarded to 30 college students, based on their academic achievements and adherence to daily CF therapy.
